Meet the Coach

Who is Trini Eiche?

Allow me to introduce myself.  I’m the Success Strategies Coach, and I have been coaching people since I was 12 years old—really!  Not  officially of course, but ever since I can remember I have been the go-to person to those around me when they needed help solving a problem or have a complex subject made easily understandable.

I’m a learner.  The process of discovery fascinates me.  I have been asking questions for as long as I can remember, and finding the answers on my own. I’ve studied myriad subjects formally and informally, but my lifelong passion is art.  I began drawing spontaneously at ago two, and continued all my life, but I did not pursue it as a career until college, switching from a major in organic chemistry.

Before I officially became a coach, I painted romance book covers for various divisions of Harlequin Enterprises Ltd.  Some of my book covers were best sellers.  I’m an accomplished realistic painter; my personal work hangs in private collections.  As an artist, my forte is a deep observation of people—an observation not limited to external appearances, but encompassing the entire person—their strengths, character, and their inner life.  I enjoy not only portraying beauty but bringing out the best from each person.  This has translated neatly into my coaching.

Here is some odd information about me:  my last name, Eiche, means Oak in German.  In America, it’s pronounced “eye-cheek,” the k being silent.  However, I’m not German—I’m Venezuelan—I came by the Oak by way of a marriage long ago ended.  Yet the Oak reference is apt in my case; those around me, my clients included, count on my steadfast, anchoring support.

I wanted to live here in the US ever since my first visit at seven years old.  Despite my tender age, I recognized that the US was a vital, exciting place where great things are possible.  I determined that one day I would live here and I immigrated at age 21.  To this day, I remain an unabashed lover of the can-do, optimistic American spirit and of the founding ideals of this nation: individual rights and limited government.

My childhood motto was, and still is, “I want to know . . . no matter what!”  That motto is a driving force in my life.  It underlies my quest for lifelong learning and self-improvement, as well as my desire to empower my clients with the tools they need in order to realize their goals of greater personal efficacy, more meaning, and joy and success in their lives.

When it comes to transitions, I’ve experienced my share of them.  In negotiating them, I know what works, and what doesn’t.  I made my life over, top to bottom, when my marriage ended.  I have created two distinct careers and have experienced first hand the intellectual-emotional roller coaster of being at a loss of what to do next, the mourning of what’s left behind, the uncertainty and anticipation of what is yet to come, and the relief and exhilaration of having found “the answer.”  But that’s not all. I have also studied the best ways to manage transitions—what’s natural to expect emotionally and intellectually, and the level and type of support that optimally helps a person negotiate transition successfully.

I'm committed to expanding the limits of my knowledge and abilities. I take expert classes to increase my knowledge of the most effective coaching techniques; I hone my skills in practice laboratories with other coaches.  I read voraciously to keep up-to-date not only in coaching, but in cognitive psychology, positive psychology, strengths, human motivation and the latest brain research.

My education as a person and as a coach will never end.  Right now I’m a participant in Coach University’s Advanced Coaching Program.  Coach University was founded by Thomas Leonard, the father of the coaching profession.  Coach U is one of the premier coach training institutions in the world.  I’m a graduate of Dr. Martin Seligman’s Authentic Happiness Coaching program.  Dr. Seligman is the founder of Positive Psychology; the author of the best sellers Learned Optimism and Authentic Happiness and the director of the University of Pennsylvania Positive Psychology Center.

My other trainings include:  Certification as a retirement coach by the Retirement Options organization to address the retirement and life transition concerns of people considering retirement or already retired.  I trained with the Life Blueprint Institute to deliver Laura Berman Fortgang’s innovative transition coaching program based on her book, Now What? 90 Days to a New Life Direction.  I’m also certified in the Print Strategies Assessment, a tool designed to help clients move forward more efficaciously with a greater understanding of themselves and others.

As important as I consider my coaching education, so are my studies of personal growth and the mechanics of personal change.   I have come to understand that there is a process of change—a step-by-step pathway you can navigate with ease once you know it, and I teach the tools that help clients move successfully through it.

A great deal about managing change successfully lies in the thorough elimination of unfounded doubts, fears and limiting beliefs.  The biggest obstacle to success is the idea that somehow I’m not competent enough to achieve it or that I’m not worthy of it.  I’m committed to eliminating my own, and I teach powerful techniques on how to do it.
